Paid Linkup Processing Fees

Last updated: 11 October 2026

When you host a Paid Linkup, two fees come out of what Attendees pay: Linkup’s 10% Platform Fee, and a processing fee charged by our payment provider, Ryft, for handling the card payment. This page explains exactly how the processing fee is worked out, so you can set a price that works for you.

Attendees don’t pay any of these fees. They only ever pay the price you set.

At a glance

  • UK-issued card: processing fee 1% + 10p, Linkup Platform Fee 10%

  • Card issued outside the UK: processing fee 2.5% + 10p, Linkup Platform Fee 10%

Both fees are worked out on the full price of each place, and taken from your earnings before they’re paid out to you.

Why the fee varies

The processing fee depends on where the Attendee’s card was issued. It doesn’t depend on where you live, where your bank account is, or where the linkup takes place.

Linkup is registered in the UK, so payments from UK-issued cards are charged the lower domestic rate of 1% + 10p. Payments from cards issued anywhere else in the world are charged the international rate of 2.5% + 10p, because card networks charge more to process them.

This applies however the Attendee pays, including with Apple Pay or Google Pay. What matters is the card behind it.

Paying in a currency other than pounds? The fixed part of the fee is 10p converted into the currency of your linkup at the current exchange rate.

Examples

Attendee paying with a UK-issued card (1% + 10p):

  • £5.00 price: Platform Fee £0.50, processing fee £0.15, you receive £4.35

  • £10.00 price: Platform Fee £1.00, processing fee £0.20, you receive £8.80

  • £25.00 price: Platform Fee £2.50, processing fee £0.35, you receive £22.15

  • £50.00 price: Platform Fee £5.00, processing fee £0.60, you receive £44.40

Attendee paying with a card issued outside the UK (2.5% + 10p):

  • £5.00 price: Platform Fee £0.50, processing fee £0.23, you receive £4.27

  • £10.00 price: Platform Fee £1.00, processing fee £0.35, you receive £8.65

  • £25.00 price: Platform Fee £2.50, processing fee £0.73, you receive £21.77

  • £50.00 price: Platform Fee £5.00, processing fee £1.35, you receive £43.65

These figures are per Attendee. If 10 people join a £10 linkup with UK cards, you’d receive 10 × £8.80 = £88.00. Amounts are rounded to the nearest penny, so totals may differ very slightly.

Tip: the fixed 10p makes a bigger difference on lower prices, so factor it in when you choose your price.

When fees are taken

Attendees are charged after the linkup ends. The Platform Fee and processing fee for each payment are then deducted from your earnings before they’re paid out to your bank account, whether that’s through an automatic payout or a withdrawal. You don’t need to pay anything upfront.

What you won’t be charged for

  • Holds that are released. If an Attendee is removed or you cancel the linkup before it ends, their payment is never taken, so there’s no processing fee.

  • Currency conversion. Your linkup is priced and paid out in the same currency, so there’s no conversion fee. If an Attendee pays from abroad, any conversion is done by their own bank.

  • Payouts. Linkup doesn’t charge you to receive your earnings. Your own bank may charge to receive payments, depending on your account.

Refunds

If an Attendee is refunded after their payment has been taken, the processing fee on that payment isn’t returned by the card networks, so it’s still deducted from your earnings.

Chargebacks (disputes)

If an Attendee disputes a payment with their bank, the card network charges a dispute fee of £20 (or the equivalent in your currency), on top of the disputed amount being taken back. This fee can’t be refunded, even if the dispute is decided in your favour. Under our Paid Linkup Terms, Hosts are responsible for chargebacks and their fees on their own Paid Linkups.

Most disputes can be avoided by describing your linkup clearly and delivering what you described. If you’re asked for evidence, send it as quickly as you can.

Changes to these fees

Processing fees are set by our payment provider and may change. If they do, we’ll update this page and give you reasonable notice before any increase applies. Changes never affect payments that have already been taken.
